  • ‘Yogah Citta Vrtti Nirodhah’ (Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra: 1.2)
Yoga is a process of gaining control over the mind.
By so controlling the mind we reach our original state.

At Crossroads we believe in Holistic approach when it comes to Counseling. We realize that combining Counseling and Yoga therapy helps in tapping the inner wisdom and reduce suffering related to depression, grief, anxiety, stress and more.

Operating under the assumption that our body is a repository for all life’s experiences, both positive and negative – for which Yoga Therapy gently opens tensely held parts of the body so pent-up feelings, fears and resistances are revealed and transformed. When combined with counseling, yoga is highly successful in reducing the symptoms of psychological and psychosomatic problems – like grief, stress, PTSD, addictions, family issues, phobias, sleep problems, depression, etc.

    Yoga Therapy

Yoga is one of the most well-known philosophies & life sciences of mind and body practice which was pioneered by the sages of ancient India. Yoga typically combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation.

Basically Yoga therapy is all about the yogic principles (about mind & it's manifestations) & Yoga techniques (such as Asanas & Pranayamas) which are used to prevent, control & cure the physical, mental & psychosomatic diseases.

Many researches, general studies & experiments are being conducted on various yoga techniques in order to bring out the best of the therapeutic aspects of them for the treatment of various physiological, psychological & psychosomatic diseases. Yoga therapy modules are designed & developed on the basis of the 6 principles. Those 6 principles of Yoga therapy which involve both physical & mental practices are:

    • Kriyas (Purificatory Procedures)

      • JalaNethi
      • Sutranethi
      • Vamanadhauti
      • LSP
      • Trataka
    • Asanas (Postures)
    • Pranayamas (breathing practices)
    • Bandhas & Mudras
    • Relaxation Techniques – DRT, Yoga Nidra, etc.
    • Meditation Techniques

      • Cyclic Meditation
      • Yoga Nidra
      • MSRT
      • Breath Awareness

Sessions typically begin by getting out of the head and into your body. As opposed to talking about a problem the individual is guided a meditation intended to slow the mind and encourage you to focus upon your body. The dialoguing techniques are reflective listening, non-directive and client-centered. The body-mind experience usually culminates in a new awareness of what changes are needed in your current situation to support your physical and emotional well-being. You learn to rely on your own resources and inner wisdom.
